Gurugram, India, 9th September 2024 — IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company Limited (IFFCO Tokio), a leading provider of general insurance in India, is proud to announce the appointment of Subrata Mondal as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), effective immediately. Mondal has been with the company since 2001 and brings over 36 years of experience in the insurance industry to his leadership role.
An alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, where he earned his B.Tech (Hons.) in Electrical Engineering, Mondal is well-known for his expertise in commercial insurance, risk management, underwriting, product development, and reinsurance. Over the years, he has handled major corporate accounts and large-scale projects across a variety of industries. Mondal’s deep understanding of IFFCO Tokio’s operations positions him perfectly to lead the company in its next phase of growth.
Mondal has held several key roles at IFFCO Tokio, most recently serving as Chief Underwriter, where he oversaw multiple business lines, including property, engineering, marine, liability, credit, health, and miscellaneous insurance. Prior to that, he led business development efforts in the Delhi NCR region and managed corporate marketing for the Northern Region.
Before joining IFFCO Tokio, Mondal worked with National Insurance Company Limited, gaining experience in underwriting, claims management, and risk engineering for large-scale projects. He began his career as a Shift Engineer at the Steel Authority of India (SAIL), overseeing electrical maintenance in the blast furnace department.
