New Delhi, India, July 2026 — GE Aerospace has appointed Sumit Shivani as Senior Sales Director, reinforcing its commercial leadership as it continues to expand its presence in India’s rapidly growing aerospace and defence sector. Bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience across defence, aerospace, infrastructure, transportation, engineering, and business development, Sumit will play a key role in driving strategic sales initiatives, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting GE Aerospace’s long-term growth across commercial and defence aviation markets.
Prior to joining GE Aerospace, Sumit served as Executive Vice President – Sales, Marketing & Project Management at Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd., where he was responsible for leading sales strategy, marketing, business development, and project management initiatives for the company’s rail transportation business. His leadership focused on strengthening customer engagement, expanding market opportunities, and driving business growth while overseeing cross-functional teams responsible for delivering complex transportation projects.
Before joining Titagarh Rail Systems, Sumit was Associate Director at AECOM, where he managed the end-to-end delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for Project Seabird, one of India’s largest and most strategically important naval infrastructure projects. He oversaw contractor performance, ensured adherence to stringent quality and safety standards, optimized project execution, and successfully delivered mission-critical infrastructure within demanding timelines and budgets.
Earlier in his career, Sumit dedicated nearly 12 years to the Indian Navy, where he built an outstanding record of engineering leadership, operational excellence, and strategic infrastructure management. During his tenure, he held several key leadership positions, including Fleet Support Unit – Eastern Region, Chief Engineer – Frontline Ship, Director, MEP Systems Training & Compliance, Strategy Lead – Engineering Division, Eastern Region, Deputy Engineer – Frontline Ship, Deputy Head – Diesel & Gas Turbine Overhaul Centre, Naval Dockyard, and Assistant Engineer – Frontline Ship. He led large-scale modernization and maintenance programs involving propulsion systems, power generation, SCADA, HVAC, electromechanical systems, and naval infrastructure while managing multidisciplinary teams of more than 150 personnel and overseeing capital expenditure programs worth approximately US$25 million. His leadership consistently delivered operational efficiency, cost optimization, enhanced maintenance strategies, and mission readiness across critical naval assets.
Throughout his career, Sumit has developed deep expertise in strategic sales, engineering management, project delivery, infrastructure development, operations, customer engagement, and business transformation. His unique combination of commercial leadership and extensive defence engineering experience positions him exceptionally well to support GE Aerospace’s continued growth in India while strengthening partnerships across commercial aviation, defence, and government sectors.
