Kolkata, West Bengal, India, June 2026 — Surya Sarkar has been promoted to Assistant Vice President – Talent Academy at Niva Bupa Health Insurance, marking a significant milestone in his learning and development leadership journey. The promotion reflects his consistent contributions to talent development, capability building, sales learning effectiveness, and leadership development initiatives across the organization.
In his new role, Surya will lead strategic learning and talent development initiatives, focusing on building future-ready capabilities, strengthening leadership pipelines, enhancing sales effectiveness, and driving learning transformation across the organization.
Surya Sarkar has been associated with Niva Bupa Health Insurance for more than five years, steadily progressing through a series of leadership roles within the learning and development function. Prior to his promotion, he served as National Training Manager – Banca & Zonal Head, where he led learning strategies and capability-building initiatives across key distribution channels. His efforts helped strengthen sales readiness, improve training effectiveness, and support business growth through structured talent development programs.
Earlier, he held the position of Senior Manager & Zone Head – Learning & Development, leading regional learning initiatives and capability enhancement programs. Before that, he served as Learning and Development Manager, where he played a pivotal role in designing and delivering learning interventions, coaching programs, and employee development initiatives that supported organizational performance and workforce capability enhancement.
Before joining Niva Bupa, Surya spent more than four years with Max Skill First Limited, where he held the positions of Learning and Development Manager and Assistant Manager – Learning & Development. During this period, he was responsible for developing learning frameworks, training delivery models, capability-building programs, and employee development initiatives that supported workforce readiness and organizational growth.
Prior to Max Skill First, he served as Training and Development Manager at Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Ltd, where he led onboarding, functional training, on-the-job learning programs, and channel partner capability development initiatives. His work contributed significantly to employee readiness and customer-facing service excellence.
Earlier in his career, Surya held training-focused positions with AB Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd., Aegis Limited, and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, where he specialized in sales training, certification programs, agent development, customer service capability building, and training need identification. He began his professional journey as a Voice Coach with Wipro BPO, developing expertise in coaching, performance improvement, customer service training, and learning effectiveness.
Over nearly two decades, Surya has established himself as a seasoned learning and development professional with deep expertise in talent development, sales capability building, leadership development, coaching, training operations, and organizational learning.
