United Kingdom, July 2026 — Macmillan Cancer Support has appointed Tiger de Souza as its Chief People & Culture Officer, reinforcing the charity’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce that supports its mission of improving the lives of people living with cancer. In this executive leadership role, Tiger will lead the organisation’s people and culture strategy, empowering colleagues and volunteers while fostering a strong sense of belonging across the charity.
As Chief People & Culture Officer, Tiger is responsible for delivering strategic workforce planning to ensure Macmillan has the skills, capabilities, and leadership needed to meet the evolving needs of the nearly 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. He will also lead the People and Culture Directorate, oversee the organisation’s equity, diversity and inclusion agenda, and create an environment where employees and volunteers can thrive while advancing Macmillan’s long-term ambitions.
Tiger brings extensive executive leadership experience across the charity, public, and membership sectors. Most recently, he served as Executive Director (People & Culture) at Samaritans, where he led the organisation’s people strategy across a federated network of more than 200 branches, driving cultural transformation, workforce integration, leadership capability, and future workforce planning. During his tenure, he also spearheaded initiatives to embed artificial intelligence into volunteer development and organisational capability while supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
Earlier, Tiger held senior leadership roles at the National Trust, serving as People Engagement Director and previously as Director – Volunteering, Participation and Inclusion. In these positions, he led major inclusion and cultural transformation programmes, strategic workforce initiatives, volunteer engagement, and digital people systems. His career also includes leadership experience as Head of Involvement at RICS, independent consulting through Tiger de Souza Consulting Ltd., and a Non-Executive role on the Thames Water Customer Challenge Group, contributing expertise in inclusion, public participation, and community engagement.
Throughout his career, Tiger has built a reputation for leading organisational transformation, strengthening inclusive cultures, developing future-ready workforces, and aligning people strategies with long-term organisational purpose. His appointment reflects Macmillan Cancer Support’s continued investment in its people and volunteer community as it works to transform cancer care across the UK.
