Mumbai, India, September 2025 — Vaibhav Sonavane has been appointed as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at CSB Bank Limited, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to cybersecurity excellence in India’s rapidly evolving BFSI sector. With close to two decades of expertise in cyber risk management, cloud security, data protection, identity governance, and enterprise security architecture, his appointment marks a strategic step in strengthening CSB Bank’s digital resilience.
Before joining CSB Bank Limited, Vaibhav served as Senior Vice President & Head of Emerging Tech & Cloud Security at Axis Bank, where he built the Cloud Security Center of Excellence and led transformative cyber defense initiatives. Prior to that, he was Principal Cloud Security Architect at Oracle, advising CISOs globally on cloud, identity, and data security.
Earlier, Vaibhav contributed as Principal Consultant at PwC India, where he provided cyber strategy and CISO advisory services across industries. His career also includes impactful tenures at Wipro Technologies as Practice Manager, Rolta India Limited as IAM Consultant, and Jardine Lloyd Thompson Canada Inc. (JLT Canada) as Module Lead, giving him a robust foundation across consulting, financial services, and global technology environments.
Known for positioning information security as a business enabler rather than a compliance mandate, Vaibhav has played pivotal roles in board-level security committees and has overseen critical ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 audits. His global exposure across the US, UK, Australia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia uniquely equips him to lead CSB Bank Limited’s cybersecurity roadmap with a forward-looking perspective.
In his new role, Vaibhav will focus on enhancing governance frameworks, advancing digital resilience, and safeguarding CSB Bank’s technology infrastructure. His leadership is expected to be instrumental in supporting the bank’s digital-first growth agenda.
