Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, May 2026 – J Kumar has joined H.G. Infra Engineering Limited (HGIEL) as Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO). Bringing more than two decades of HR leadership experience across infrastructure, manufacturing, FMCG, fintech, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and smart energy sectors, he will lead the company’s people strategy as HGIEL continues its rapid growth and expansion across India.
In his new role, J Kumar will oversee talent management, workforce planning, organizational development, leadership capability building, HR digitization, employee engagement, and culture transformation initiatives. His appointment is expected to strengthen HGIEL’s people agenda and support the organization’s evolving business and growth objectives.
Prior to joining RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, J Kumar served as Chief Human Resources Officer (FMCG Business), where he led HR strategy for the group’s FMCG operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, he spearheaded HR transformation initiatives across talent acquisition, total rewards, organizational development, and HR technology. During his tenure, he digitized HR processes, enhanced workforce productivity, improved employee engagement, and established a performance-driven culture through leadership development and organizational capability-building programs.
Before joining the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, J Kumar spent more than six years with Bharti Airtel, including a key leadership role as Chief Human Resources Officer – Airtel Payments Bank. He was instrumental in building the HR function from the ground up for the digital banking venture, scaling the workforce from inception to more than 400 employees while establishing a high-performance culture. He also led compensation redesign, talent retention initiatives, organizational restructuring, agile workforce models, and HR automation programs. Earlier, as Head HR – Andhra Pradesh Circle, he partnered with business leaders to align people strategies with organizational priorities and earned the Chairman’s Excellence Award for best HR practices.
Earlier in his career, J Kumar served as HR Business Partner at Abbott, supporting a salesforce of more than 1,000 employees while implementing talent management and learning initiatives. Before that, he held a similar role with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, where he led HR for a large research workforce and implemented innovative talent development frameworks, earning recognition for HR excellence.
His professional journey also includes a significant tenure with JSW Steel, where he managed large-scale talent acquisition and workforce planning initiatives, supporting the recruitment of thousands of professionals and engineering graduates. These experiences have given him deep expertise in HR transformation, organizational effectiveness, talent strategy, leadership development, and employee engagement across diverse industries.
An alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, J Kumar holds an MBA in Human Resources and has built a distinguished career helping organizations align people strategy with business growth and transformation.
