In her new role, Karen Nelson is responsible for leading the people and culture agenda across SPI Pharma’s global operations. She will focus on strengthening organisational effectiveness, advancing global talent and leadership development, and aligning people strategies with the company’s growth, innovation, and customer-focused objectives within the pharmaceutical industry.

Prior to joining SPI Pharma, Karen Nelson served as Vice President of Human Resources at Nelson HR Group LLC, where she provided interim HR leadership and advisory support to corporate, non-profit, and private equity–backed organisations. In this capacity, she partnered with leadership teams on talent strategy, organisational effectiveness, and large-scale change initiatives across global, multi-site environments.

Before this, she held senior global HR leadership roles at IDEX Corporation, including Vice President, Human Resources and Global Human Resources Director, supporting multi-business-unit operations across the US, Europe, and Asia. Her work at IDEX included driving global talent strategy, reducing attrition through targeted development programs, rebuilding international HR operations, and leading HR integration for acquisitions.

Earlier in her career, Karen Nelson was Global Head of Human Resources at LanzaTech, where she built the HR function from the ground up during a phase of rapid global expansion across the US, China, Europe, and India. She also held senior HR leadership roles at Teleflex Medical OEM and Mettler-Toledo International, supporting large, multi-site life sciences and medical technology organisations.

With deep experience across life sciences, manufacturing, and global enterprises, her appointment reflects SPI Pharma’s continued commitment to building a strong, inclusive, and high-performing global culture.
