Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, March 2026 – Marriott International has announced the appointment of Elton Hurtis as the new General Manager of Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center, marking a strategic leadership move to further strengthen the property’s positioning as a premier hospitality destination in the region. With close to three decades of hospitality experience, including nearly 24 years with Marriott International, Elton brings a leadership philosophy rooted in people, purpose, and long-term performance.
Commenting on his appointment, Elton Hurtis said, “I am honoured to take on this role and look forward to working alongside the team to further strengthen Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield as a destination defined by warm service, empowered associates, and meaningful guest connections.”
In his most recent assignment, Elton Hurtis served as General Manager at Marriott International in Colombo, where he spent nearly five years driving operational excellence, enhancing customer experience, and strengthening service standards. His tenure reflected a strong focus on delivering consistent guest satisfaction while building high-performing teams.
Prior to this, he held the role of General Manager at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Colombo, where he led the property through a critical phase of operational stability and guest experience enhancement. His leadership was instrumental in maintaining high service standards and operational efficiency during this period.
Earlier, Elton served as General Manager at Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa in Sri Lanka, where he spent over three years establishing the property as a distinguished luxury destination. His focus on service excellence, team capability building, and customer-centric operations significantly contributed to the resort’s market positioning.
Before moving to international assignments, he held leadership roles in India, including serving as General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal, where he spent over four years strengthening operations and customer experience frameworks. He also worked as Director – Operations at Courtyard by Marriott, Mumbai, where he played a key role in driving operational efficiencies.
Elton’s earlier career reflects deep expertise in food and beverage and culinary leadership. He served as Director Food and Beverage at Goa Marriott Resort, followed by roles at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu as Food and Beverage Manager and Executive Sous Chef, where he spent several years honing his operational and culinary leadership capabilities. He began his career as a Chef at The Oberoi Hotels, building a strong foundation in hospitality that continues to influence his leadership approach.
