Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, June 2026 — Azli Mohamed has been appointed as the new President & Group Chief Executive Officer of Gas Malaysia Berhad, marking a significant leadership transition for one of Malaysia’s leading gas providers. In his new role, Azli will lead the company’s strategic direction, operational growth, and long-term transformation as Gas Malaysia continues to deliver energy solutions that support industries, communities, and homes across the nation.
Azli joined Gas Malaysia as President & Group Chief Executive Officer-Elect before formally assuming the role of President & Group Chief Executive Officer. His appointment brings to the company a multifaceted leadership track record across energy, aviation, digital transformation, infrastructure, sustainability, finance, strategy, and corporate development.
Prior to joining Gas Malaysia, Azli served as Managing Director – Malaysia at Siemens Energy, where he led the company’s Malaysia operations and contributed to advancing energy technology, sustainability, grid modernization, and cleaner energy solutions. His experience in the energy sector positions him strongly to guide Gas Malaysia’s next phase of growth and innovation.
Before Siemens Energy, Azli held senior leadership positions with AEON Group Malaysia, where he served as Chief Ventures & Sustainability Officer and Chief Entrepreneurial Commerce Officer. In these roles, he led new ventures, e-commerce, fintech, digital logistics, sustainability initiatives, customer experience, data-driven business growth, and new business creation across the Group’s ecosystem.
Azli also held key leadership roles at AirAsia Group, now Capital A, including Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, Chief Transformation Officer, and Deputy Chief Transformation Officer. During this period, he helped design and execute transformation strategies supporting AirAsia’s evolution into a broader travel technology company, with emphasis on efficiency, simplification, digitalization, and future ways of working.
Earlier, he served as Chief Strategy Officer at Malaysia Airports, where he led strategic and innovation-led execution across aviation-related business units, digital transformation, enterprise risk, sustainability, and growth initiatives. He also spent nearly seven years with GE, holding leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer – Malaysia, Director, Growth Initiatives & Key Account, Global Growth Organization ASEAN, and Market Development Director, Malaysia, where he drove country growth strategy, commercial value creation, innovation, strategic partnerships, and sustainability-focused initiatives.
Azli’s earlier career includes significant experience with Mubadala, Masdar, Etisalat UAE, Westminster International Consultants, Axiata, MISC, and RHB Banking Group, where he built strong capabilities in structured finance, project and corporate finance, regulatory economics, mergers and acquisitions, strategy, business development, investment analysis, and corporate planning. He has also contributed to several advisory and board roles across innovation, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and business platforms.
With his extensive cross-sector leadership experience, Azli is well positioned to guide Gas Malaysia Berhad through its next phase of growth, operational excellence, sustainability, and national infrastructure contribution.
