Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, April 2026 — HDFC ERGO General Insurance has announced the appointment of Parthanil Ghosh as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, subject to regulatory approvals from IRDAI. This leadership transition marks a significant milestone as the company continues to strengthen its position in India’s fast-evolving insurance landscape.
A seasoned insurance leader, Parthanil has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth journey and strengthening its market leadership. In his new role, he will lead the organization’s strategic direction with a strong focus on customer experience, innovation, and expanding insurance penetration across India’s under-insured population.
Parthanil brings over three decades of rich leadership experience across insurance, financial services, and lending sectors. He has been associated with HDFC ERGO General Insurance in multiple leadership capacities, most recently serving as Executive Director and Whole-Time Director, where he was responsible for the overall P&L of the organization and led critical functions including Retail, Corporate, Government & Digital Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, Product Development, IT, Operations, Marketing, and Fraud Management.
Prior to this, he served as Director and Chief Business Officer, overseeing key business verticals such as Retail & Crop Insurance, Underwriting, Claims, and Digital & Technology functions, playing a crucial role in driving business growth and operational excellence.
Earlier, as President – Motor Business, he managed the entire motor insurance portfolio across distribution, underwriting, and claims, further strengthening the company’s leadership in one of the most competitive insurance segments. His tenure as Group Head – Retail Business also saw significant expansion in customer reach and channel effectiveness.
Before joining HDFC ERGO, Parthanil held leadership roles at L&T General Insurance, where he served as National Head – Retail Sales and Business Head – North, driving distribution expansion and profitable growth across multiple lines of business.
His earlier experience includes senior roles at FamilyCredit Limited (Societe Generale Group), ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services Limited, and Nicco UCO Financial Services Limited, where he built deep expertise in business strategy, distribution networks, product development, and financial services operations.
He began his career with NIIT Limited, building foundational experience in sales and business development.
Across his career, Parthanil has consistently demonstrated strong capabilities in scaling businesses, driving profitability, building customer-centric strategies, and leading large, complex organizations.
