Widely regarded as one of the leading architects of Global Business Services (GBS) transformation, Akhilesh joins Siemens at a time when organizations worldwide are accelerating digitalization, AI adoption, intelligent operations, and enterprise-wide transformation. In his new role, he will help drive strategic operational frameworks, technology-enabled standardization, global capability development, and transformation programs supporting Siemens’ continued growth across its international businesses.

Prior to joining Siemens, Akhilesh served as Managing Director, GBS LLP and Vice President – Head APAC Global Business Services at Philips, where he oversaw operations spanning India and China with responsibility for large-scale transformation initiatives across finance, HR services, analytics, master data, IT services, supply chain, customer services, project management, and translation services. During his tenure, he worked closely with global leadership teams to execute business restructuring programs, optimize operational governance, strengthen workforce capabilities, and drive significant year-on-year efficiency improvements.

Before Philips, Akhilesh spent nearly a decade with Maersk, where he held a series of increasingly senior global leadership positions, including Global Head – Finance Transformation and Global Operations Lead, APMM Terminals. He led one of the most ambitious finance transformation initiatives in the logistics industry, redesigning finance operating models across more than 130 countries. His leadership helped deliver approximately US$134 million in annual recurring benefits, while driving organizational redesign, process standardization, technology integration, automation, and capability building across global finance functions.

Earlier in his career, Akhilesh held leadership roles at Macquarie Group, where he directed finance transformation and transition programs across global operations, and at Genpact, where he led global transitions, shared services strategy, transformation initiatives, and business development programs for multinational clients across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and India. His expertise spans organizational transformation, robotic process automation (RPA), finance modernization, operating model design, enterprise restructuring, and large-scale change management.

Throughout his career, Akhilesh has built a reputation for successfully combining business strategy, operational excellence, technology enablement, and people transformation. His ability to align executive leadership teams around complex transformation agendas has made him a respected leader within the global shared services and business transformation community.

His appointment reinforces Siemens’ commitment to strengthening its global transformation capabilities as the company continues to accelerate digitalization, industrial AI adoption, process innovation, and sustainable growth across its worldwide operations.
