Cambridge, England, United Kingdom, April 2025 – Alan Harrison has taken on a new role as Global Head of Talent & Talent Scouting at AstraZeneca, marking another milestone in his distinguished career with the organization. In this strategic leadership position, Alan will oversee the global Talent and Talent Scouting teams, partnering closely with senior business and HR leaders to drive talent strategy, succession planning, executive search, and senior niche-skill hiring across AstraZeneca’s global footprint.
Prior to his new appointment, Alan Harrison served as Global Senior Director: Talent Scouting, Senior and Critical Hiring at AstraZeneca, where he led critical initiatives in identifying and securing top-tier talent globally, focusing on strategic and executive roles to strengthen AstraZeneca’s leadership pipeline.
Earlier, Alan was Head of HR, US Commercial Oncology, where he was responsible for people strategies across one of AstraZeneca’s fastest-growing business units. He also served as Global HR Business Partner for the Oncology Business Unit, partnering with senior executives on workforce planning, inclusion and diversity, talent acceleration, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
Before his time in the US, Alan successfully led AstraZeneca Poland as HR Director, driving transformational people strategies and earning the organization a Top Employer Award for Poland. His achievements included expanding the workforce, launching new operating models, and embedding a culture of excellence.
Earlier in his career, Alan held leadership roles in Global HR Transformation and India Operations, managing large-scale HR change initiatives, implementing HR technology systems like Workday, and improving customer and employee experiences. He began his journey with AstraZeneca as an HR Business Partner and Shared Services Team Leader in the UK, building foundational expertise across HR operations and employee lifecycle management.
