Mumbai,Maharashtra, India, June 2026 — Amit Kumar has been elevated to President – Asia Region at Birla Carbon, the flagship carbon black business of the Aditya Birla Group, marking a significant milestone in a distinguished leadership career spanning more than three decades. In his expanded role, Kumar will serve as the P&L Head for the Rubber Business across Asia, overseeing sales, marketing, manufacturing, and related business functions across one of the company’s most strategically important regions.
In addition to his operational responsibilities, Kumar also serves as a Director on the Boards of Birla Carbon’s entities in Korea, China, and India, reflecting the organization’s confidence in his leadership, strategic vision, and ability to drive sustainable growth across global markets.
Prior to this elevation, Kumar served as President & Chief Manufacturing Officer – Asia at Birla Carbon, where he led manufacturing operations, operational excellence programs, supply chain optimization initiatives, and digital transformation efforts across the region. His leadership played a pivotal role in strengthening operational efficiency, enhancing manufacturing capabilities, and supporting the company’s long-term growth objectives.
Over the course of his career, Kumar has developed extensive expertise in manufacturing excellence, sourcing, supply chain transformation, digitalization, business performance improvement, and organizational leadership. Before joining Birla Carbon, he held several senior leadership positions within the Aditya Birla Group, contributing to large-scale operational and business transformation initiatives across multiple businesses and geographies.
Earlier in his professional journey, Kumar held leadership roles with GE, Honeywell, The Timken Company, and McNally Bharat Engineering Company Limited, where he successfully led manufacturing operations, procurement strategies, supply chain modernization, operational excellence programs, and business growth initiatives. His ability to combine strategic thinking with execution excellence has earned him a strong reputation as a transformational leader capable of driving performance across complex global organizations.
With his elevation to President – Asia Region, Kumar is well positioned to lead Birla Carbon’s next phase of growth across Asia while strengthening the company’s market leadership, customer partnerships, manufacturing capabilities, and sustainability-focused business strategy.
