Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, September 2024 – Amit Mehta has been appointed as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at upGrad, a global leader in the edtech industry. In his new role, Amit will lead the company’s global HR strategies, focusing on enhancing organizational effectiveness, talent development, and performance management. With over 14 years of experience at Hindustan Unilever (HUL) in various HR leadership roles, Amit is set to drive a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration as upGrad embarks on its next phase of growth.
Amit joins upGrad after a distinguished tenure of over 14 years at Unilever. Most recently, he served as the HR Head – Home Care and Talent & Organization Director, South Asia for 2 years 4 months. In this role, he spearheaded talent management, leadership development, and organizational design for Unilever’s Home Care business and led the people agenda across South Asia.
Prior to this, Amit was the GM HR for Marketing – Home Care and Beauty & Personal Care, as well as the Head of Employer Brand for 1 year 4 months, where he focused on elevating Unilever’s employer brand and implementing HR strategies for multiple business units.
Amit also served as the Head of Employer Brand & Talent Channels for 1 year 4 months, where he strengthened Unilever’s employer brand across B-schools and premier engineering institutes, while innovating in talent acquisition for mid and senior-level professionals.
Earlier, Amit was the HR Business Partner (HRBP) – Customer Development (Sales) for 3 years 1 month, where he drove leadership and talent initiatives across 14 consumer clusters in India, helping scale Unilever’s eCommerce team.
He began his leadership trajectory as the OD Lead & EA to HR Director for 2 years 9 months, where he worked closely with the CHRO of South Asia on long-term HR strategies, workforce planning, and organizational design.
