Cairo, Egypt, October 2025 – Lafarge Egypt, a member of the Holcim Group and one of the largest cement manufacturers in the MENA region, has announced the appointment of Amr Salem as its new Chief People Officer. With an illustrious career spanning over 30 years across the Middle East, Africa, North America, and Southeast Asia, Amr brings with him a deep understanding of human capital leadership, organizational transformation, and cultural excellence.
In his new role, Amr will lead Lafarge Egypt’s human resources function with a focus on enabling the company’s NextGen2030 strategy, fostering leadership development, and strengthening the organizational culture under the Holcim Spirit framework. His strategic vision and global HR expertise are expected to play a pivotal role in driving the company’s continued progress and transformation journey in alignment with Holcim’s global sustainability and innovation goals.
Prior to joining Lafarge Egypt, Amr Salem served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Beyti – an Almarai Subsidiary, where he successfully led HR strategy, corporate governance, and executive development initiatives for over a decade. His leadership contributed to the company’s robust growth, operational excellence, and strong talent management systems across Egypt’s competitive FMCG landscape.
Before his CHRO role, Amr held key leadership positions at CIT VERICASH as Group Vice President – Strategic Development and Human Capital, where he was instrumental in developing and executing organizational transformation programs. Earlier, as Group HR Director at Alkan CIT, he led strategic human capital development, capability enhancement, and change management efforts that helped strengthen the company’s competitive positioning in the technology sector.
Amr began his HR journey with PepsiCo Egypt, where he served as Human Resources Manager, and later worked with MEAG – Middle East Advisory Group and Ernst & Young (EY) as an HR and OD consultant. These formative years allowed him to build a solid foundation in leadership development, organizational design, and strategic HR consulting — expertise that has defined his leadership style throughout his career.
Beyond corporate roles, Amr also serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Prince Edward Island, sharing his insights and leadership experience with the next generation of professionals. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from UOFA, Georgia, USA, underscoring his commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning.
