Johannesburg, South Africa, May 2024 – Dr. Candice Hartley has been appointed as the new Chief People Officer (CPO) at KPMG South Africa. With an extensive background in human resources and organizational development, Dr. Hartley brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to KPMG’s HR strategies.
Before joining KPMG South Africa, Dr. Hartley served as Chief Executive Officer at Mwangaza Advisory for approximately 1.5 years, where she established the firm to focus on designing people strategies tailored to client needs.
Prior to that, she was the Group Human Capital Executive at AECI Limited for over 2 years, leading HR strategies across 22 countries and participating in various executive committees. She also held the role of HR Director at British American Tobacco for about 3 years, where she developed and implemented HR strategies across the HR value chain.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Hartley held significant roles at Pernod Ricard as HR Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Lenovo as HR Partner Africa, and Barloworld Limited as Executive Director Human Resources. Her career began with positions at Standard Bank as an HR Consultant, South African Breweries as an HR Graduate, and Momentum as a Client Liaison & Fund Administrator.
