United Kingdom – November 2024 – Claire Conway has been appointed as the Senior Director, Human Resources for Global Commercial Excellence at Avantor. In her new role, Claire will focus on leading HR strategies that enhance the company’s commercial operations on a global scale, aligning with Avantor’s commitment to advancing scientific progress and operational excellence.
Before this promotion, Claire served as the Human Resources Director for West Europe at Avantor. In this capacity, she successfully led HR functions across multiple European countries, including the UK, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal, fostering a collaborative HR environment that supported regional growth and talent development.
Previously, Claire held the position of Human Resources Director for Northern Europe at Avantor, where she managed HR operations across Northern European regions, ensuring streamlined HR processes and building robust support systems for employees in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Her work in this role reinforced Avantor’s employee-centric culture and strengthened HR’s strategic impact.
Prior to joining Avantor, Claire accumulated over 20 years of experience at BP, where she held various HR leadership roles, such as HR Director for West Europe, HR Director for Castrol Technology and BP Downstream Technology, and HR Director for Castrol Global Functions. Throughout her tenure at BP, Claire made substantial contributions to organizational development, strategic talent management, and global HR transformation initiatives.
In the early stages of her career, Claire worked at Royal Mail, where she gained foundational HR expertise in roles such as Personnel Advisor for Corporate Clients and Management Resourcing Manager. Her early experience with HR advisory and resourcing projects equipped her with a strong foundation for her subsequent leadership roles.
