Dr. Tapan Sahoo Appointed as Head of Digital Enterprise & Information & Cyber Security at Maruti Suzuki India Limited

New Delhi, Delhi, India, March 2025 – Maruti Suzuki India Limited has appointed Dr. Tapan Sahoo as the Head of Digital Enterprise and Information & Cyber Security, effective April 1st, 2025. The decision was officially approved by the company’s board of directors, marking a strategic move towards accelerating digital transformation and technological advancement at India’s largest automobile manufacturer.

In his new role, Dr. Sahoo will lead the company’s digital innovation agenda. His primary focus will be on enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and data-driven strategies. He will also be responsible for forging strategic collaborations with startups and academic institutions to build a forward-looking digital ecosystem within Maruti Suzuki.

Dr. Sahoo’s most recent position at Maruti Suzuki was Executive Officer – Digital Enterprise, where he laid the groundwork for business innovation by applying next-gen technologies and spearheading enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. His contributions were key to building digital capabilities that created measurable value and elevated both internal processes and consumer touchpoints.

Prior to this, he served as Executive Officer – Engineering, leading the transformation of vehicle concepts into reality. He was responsible for vehicle design, development, evaluation, supplier capability development, and the strategic deployment of new technologies. His vision significantly contributed to product portfolio innovation and long-term planning at Maruti Suzuki.

His early career at Maruti Suzuki began over three decades ago when he joined as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET). Over nearly 30 years, he held roles of increasing responsibility across Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Powertrain Development, Hybrid and EV Technology, and Supplier Technology Development, while also gaining international exposure through training and collaboration in Japan.

Dr. Sahoo holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Technology Management and an MBA in Strategic and Technology Management, both from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, underscoring his strong academic and research foundation that complements his vast industry experience.
