London, United Kingdom, September 2024 — Ellen van Slageren has joined MUJI Europe Limited as the new Head of HR, People and Culture. With over two decades of experience in the retail and fashion industry, Ellen will lead MUJI’s HR strategy across Europe, focusing on people development, cultural transformation, and HR operational excellence.
Before joining MUJI Europe Limited, Ellen served as the HR Lead Europe at The Kooples for over a year, where she played a pivotal role in shaping HR strategies across multiple regions, including France, with a hybrid working model. During her tenure, she focused on talent acquisition, employee engagement, and retail HR practices, driving significant improvements in the company’s HR functions across Europe.
Prior to The Kooples, Ellen held the position of HR Business Partner France Benelux at Skechers, where she was responsible for managing HR operations across France and the Benelux region. In this role, she worked closely with senior leadership to streamline HR processes and drive business success through effective HR management in the retail space.
Ellen also gained valuable experience during her time at UNIQLO EUROPE LTD, where she worked in multiple HR leadership roles for nearly five years. As the HR Lead Benelux, she was responsible for overseeing HR operations and supporting business growth in the region. Additionally, as HR Business Partner France, she was instrumental in shaping the HR strategy for one of the company’s largest European markets.
Earlier in her career, Ellen honed her HR expertise at Comptoir des Cotonniers, serving as HR Business Partner Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland, and later as HR Coordinator France/Belgium. In these roles, she managed HR operations across multiple countries, supporting retail expansion and fostering employee development.
