London, England, United Kingdom, April 2025 – Geert Verellen has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer – Designate at SSP Group plc, a global leader in food and beverage services for travel locations. Based in London, Geert steps into this strategic role to support the company’s financial evolution and long-term global ambitions.
Geert brings over 25 years of global finance experience across retail, food, and consumer industries. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Maple Leaf Foods Inc, where he oversaw treasury, tax, investor relations, internal audit, and more. Prior to that, Geert was with Walmart for over four years, holding roles such as Regional CFO for Walmart Canada, India & Japan and CFO for Walmart Canada, where he played a key role in financial transformation and operational oversight across multiple geographies.
He also had a long and successful tenure at Delhaize Group, where he served in roles including SVP Finance for Delhaize Belgium and VP Investor Relations & External Communications, leading large finance teams and strategic communications functions. Geert began his career with PwC, holding various audit leadership roles across Belgium and the United States.
