Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, July 2026 – Hellbender Inc., a technology company specializing in computer vision, artificial intelligence, machine learning, sensors, and robotic systems, has appointed Karen W. as Vice President of People Operations.
In her new role, Karen will lead the company’s people operations strategy, overseeing talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll, HR compliance, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and people programs that support Hellbender’s continued growth and innovation agenda.
Karen joins the executive leadership team with more than two decades of experience across human resources, people operations, benefits administration, compensation, compliance, and organizational development. She brings a strong track record of building scalable HR functions and aligning people strategies with business objectives across technology, consulting, financial services, and industrial organizations.
Prior to joining Hellbender Inc., Karen spent nearly seven years with Near Earth Autonomy, where she most recently served as Director of People Operations. In this role, she led all major people functions, including recruiting, employee relations, payroll, benefits, compensation, HR budgeting, policy development, and workforce programs. Earlier, she served as Senior People Operations Manager, helping strengthen the company’s HR infrastructure during a period of organizational growth.
Before Near Earth Autonomy, Karen worked as a Human Resources Consultant with RGP, advising clients on human resources strategy, employee benefits, compensation, payroll administration, HR compliance, organizational transitions, and policy development. Her consulting experience provided broad exposure to diverse industries and complex workforce challenges.
Karen also held leadership positions with Evoqua Water Technologies, where she served as Employee Benefits Manager and played a key role in designing and implementing employee benefit programs, managing vendor relationships, and supporting broader HR transformation initiatives. Earlier in her career, she spent six years with BNY Mellon as Executive Benefits Analyst, managing executive compensation and benefits programs, governance reporting, and employee benefit initiatives across multiple markets.
Throughout her career, Karen has developed deep expertise in people operations, talent management, compensation and benefits, HR governance, employee experience, compliance, workforce planning, organizational development, and HR transformation. Her experience in scaling HR operations and building employee-centric programs positions her well to support Hellbender’s continued expansion.
Her appointment comes as Hellbender continues to strengthen its capabilities in AI, machine learning, embedded systems, robotics, and advanced manufacturing, while investing in the talent and organizational capabilities required to support long-term innovation and growth.
