Costello currently serves as Interim Group Chief Financial Officer at Standard Chartered, having stepped into the role in May 2026 following his tenure as Global Head of Investor Relations since April 2024. In his investor relations leadership role, he played a key part in shaping market communications, shareholder engagement, strategic financial narratives, and investor confidence for the bank’s global operations.
Before joining Standard Chartered, Costello spent over 14 years at AllianceBernstein, where he served as Global Head of Research, Autonomous, leading globally recognized research and strategic analysis capabilities. His work focused on market intelligence, financial services strategy, investor insight, and institutional analysis.
Earlier, Costello built a distinguished investment banking and research career at Merrill Lynch, where he served as Senior Director, Equity Research across London and New York, further strengthening his expertise in financial markets, capital strategy, investor analysis, and corporate performance evaluation.
With over two decades of financial services, capital markets, investor relations, and strategic research leadership, Costello brings exceptional financial stewardship, investor insight, and global banking expertise to the CFO role.
