Arlington, Virginia, United States, June 2026 — The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) has announced the appointment of Marian Stevens as Senior Vice President, People. A highly accomplished human resources executive with nearly three decades of experience in talent strategy, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, total rewards, workforce transformation, and human capital management, Marian will lead NACD’s people agenda as the organization continues to support corporate directors and boards navigating an increasingly complex business landscape.
In her new role, Marian will oversee the organization’s people strategy, talent management, leadership development, culture, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness initiatives. Her appointment reflects NACD’s commitment to building a high-performing workforce capable of supporting its growing membership and expanding influence within the corporate governance ecosystem.
Prior to joining NACD, Marian served as Chief Human Resources Officer at the FHLBanks Office of Finance, where she led enterprise-wide human capital strategy across Human Resources, Communications, and Facilities. Working closely with the CEO and Board Compensation Committee, she spearheaded significant transformation initiatives that aligned talent, leadership, and organizational effectiveness with business and regulatory priorities.
During her tenure, Marian rebuilt leadership infrastructure through executive recruitment, established enterprise-wide leadership competencies, modernized HR systems and processes, redesigned total rewards programs, strengthened succession planning, and launched leadership development initiatives that enhanced organizational capability and employee engagement.
Before joining the FHLBanks Office of Finance, Marian served as Vice President, Human Resources at Surescripts, where she was a member of the executive leadership team and led enterprise-wide people strategy. She played a key role in aligning talent, culture, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives with the company’s growth strategy and business priorities.
Earlier, Marian served as AVP and Director, Human Resources Business Partner at HNTB, where she led HR strategy aligned with business growth objectives and partnered with senior leadership on talent management, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, and organizational design initiatives. Her efforts contributed to strong business performance and strengthened talent pipelines across the organization.
Prior to HNTB, she spent more than a decade with Fannie Mae as Director, Human Resources Business Partner, leading strategic human capital initiatives within a highly regulated environment. She partnered closely with business leaders and cross-functional HR teams to drive talent, compensation, benefits, organizational design, and workforce effectiveness programs that supported organizational performance and long-term growth.
Earlier in her career, Marian held human resources leadership positions with the Nuclear Energy Institute, Environmental Strategies Corporation, and ICF International, building a strong foundation in talent management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, workforce planning, and organizational development.
Throughout her career, Marian has established herself as a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams, helping organizations navigate growth, transformation, regulatory complexity, and cultural evolution through strategic human capital initiatives and leadership-focused solutions.
