In a strategic move to bolster its leadership and align with future growth objectives, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), India’s largest carmaker, announced a significant reshuffle in its Senior Management Personnel (SMP). The changes, approved by the board of directors in a meeting held on March 27, 2024, are poised to drive innovation, engineering excellence, and customer satisfaction to new heights. All the changes will come into effect from April 1, 2024.
Mr. CV Raman will transition from his role as Head of Engineering to become a Member of the Executive Committee. This move is part of a broader strategy to leverage Raman’s extensive experience and insight at the executive level.
Mr. Tarun Aggarwal, previously the executive officer and head of the powertrain vertical, is taking over the engineering helm. Aggarwal’s 34-year tenure at MSIL and his vast experience in engineering disciplines position him as the ideal leader to propel the company’s engineering initiatives forward.
Mr Salil Lal will now be the Head of HR, taking over from Rajesh Uppal, who was Head of HR and IT. Mr. Uppal will transition to the Executive Committee. Mr. Lal has been with Maruti for more than a decade and is an alumni of the prestigious XISS, Ranchi.
Mr. Manoj Gautam will now head IT.
In Product Planning, Mr. Sandeep Raina has been appointed as the Head, effective April 1, 2024. Raina brings over thirty years of experience within MSIL and a rich background in engineering and business management, marking a strategic move to strengthen the company’s product development and innovation pipeline.
The Marketing & Sales division will see Mr. Shashank Srivastava transition to the Executive Committee, with Mr. Partho Banerjee stepping in as the new Head of Marketing & Sales. Banerjee’s 34-year career at MSIL across various verticals equips him with a holistic understanding of the company’s operations and market dynamics.
Mr. Ram Suresh Akella, who will move from his current role within the Marketing Vertical, will take over service leadership. Akella’s comprehensive 31-year experience at MSIL and diverse background make him the right fit to enhance service excellence.
Sunil Kakkar is transferred from the position of Head – Supply Chain to Head – Corporate Planning. Mr. Deepak Thukral will now lead Supply Chain.
Finally, Mr. Rahul Bharti will lead Corporate Affairs.
These appointments align with the company’s strategic vision for operational efficiency and corporate governance.
