New York, United States, June 2026 — Mastercard has appointed its current Chief Financial Officer, Sachin Mehra, to the newly created position of Chief Business Officer (CBO), reflecting the company’s continued focus on accelerating growth, strengthening customer partnerships, and expanding its global payments and technology ecosystem.
In this newly established role, Mehra will help drive Mastercard’s business strategy, oversee key growth initiatives, deepen engagement across global markets, and support the company’s efforts to deliver innovative payment solutions and value-added services to customers worldwide. His appointment highlights Mastercard’s confidence in his strategic leadership, financial expertise, and deep understanding of the company’s global operations.
Mehra has served as Chief Financial Officer of Mastercard since 2019, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, capital allocation priorities, investor relations, and long-term growth agenda. During his tenure, Mastercard strengthened its position as one of the world’s leading payment technology companies while expanding its portfolio of digital payments, cybersecurity, data analytics, and value-added services.
Prior to becoming CFO, Mehra served as Chief Financial Operations Officer, where he helped drive operational excellence and financial performance across the organization. Earlier, he held several senior leadership positions within Mastercard, including Group Executive, Global Commercial Products, Group Executive, Business Finance Officer – North America, and Group Executive & Corporate Treasurer. Across these roles, he contributed significantly to business expansion, product innovation, commercial growth, treasury management, and strategic planning.
Before joining Mastercard in 2010, Mehra held leadership positions at Hess Corporation, serving as Vice President & Treasurer and Vice President & Deputy Treasurer, where he led treasury operations, capital structure management, and financial strategy initiatives. Earlier, he served as General Director, New York Treasurer’s Office at General Motors, further strengthening his expertise in corporate finance, treasury management, and global business operations.
With more than two decades of leadership experience across finance, treasury, business strategy, and commercial operations, Mehra has consistently demonstrated an ability to drive growth, lead transformation, and create long-term value. His appointment as Chief Business Officer positions him to play an even greater role in shaping Mastercard’s future growth trajectory and innovation agenda.
