Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, April 2025 – Nikhil Dhar has joined Borouge as Head of Strategic Management, taking charge at a critical inflection point in the company’s journey as it moves towards becoming a USD 60 billion petrochemicals giant through its strategic alignment with Borealis and Nova Chemicals. In this role, Nikhil will lead a high-caliber team responsible for shaping the strategic direction of Borouge during its transformational phase.
Before joining Borouge, Nikhil Dhar was with Shell for over six years, most recently serving as Head of Strategic Initiatives, India, and Chief of Staff to the Country Chairperson, where he led key national-scale initiatives and was an integral part of the India Leadership Team. Prior to that, he drove Shell’s Circular Economy Program and advised on Net Zero transition pathways, helping build scalable recycling ecosystems and integrated energy solutions. He also held the role of Strategy Lead for Shell’s upstream and LNG businesses, working across M&A, carbon management, and energy transition themes.
Earlier, Nikhil worked at Reliance Industries Limited as General Manager – Strategy & Planning for its petrochemicals vertical. There, he designed valuation frameworks, led investment evaluations in circular economy projects, and delivered annual operating plans for one of the company’s key verticals.
Nikhil’s longest tenure was with GAIL (India) Limited, where over a span of nine years he led major capex projects, including a 400 Ktpa polymer plant and a solar PV initiative, managing the full lifecycle from financial modeling to contract negotiations.
He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and brings with him more than 15 years of cross-functional experience in strategy, sustainability, and petrochemical project execution.
