London, England, United Kingdom, March 2026 – Peter Fitzgerald has started a new position as Chief Investment Officer at Lloyds Banking Group, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his distinguished career in global asset management and investment leadership.
Fitzgerald joins Lloyds Banking Group after spending nearly fifteen years at Aviva Investors, where he held several senior leadership roles and played a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s multi-asset investment strategy. Most recently, he served as Chief Investment Officer, Macro Discretionary, overseeing macro-focused investment strategies and contributing to the organization’s broader investment leadership.
Prior to that, Fitzgerald served as Chief Investment Officer for Multi-Assets & Macro, where he managed a range of absolute return investment strategies while leading teams responsible for multi-asset portfolios, emerging market debt, and sovereign bond strategies. During this time, he was also a member of the Aviva Investors Executive Team, contributing to the firm’s strategic direction and global investment leadership.
Earlier in his tenure at Aviva Investors, Fitzgerald held the roles of Head of Multi-Assets, where he oversaw the management of the flagship AIMS investment range and led a team responsible for managing more than €100 billion in multi-asset and multi-manager portfolios, and Head of Multi-Asset Retail Funds, leading investment teams responsible for large retail investment portfolios. He initially joined the organization as Senior Portfolio Manager, focusing on multi-asset portfolio management.
Before joining Aviva Investors, Fitzgerald served as Senior Wealth Manager at BNP Paribas Wealth Management, where he managed discretionary portfolios for high-net-worth clients across multiple currencies including USD, EUR, and GBP. Earlier, he worked as a Portfolio Manager at Insinger de Beaufort, managing investment portfolios and conducting fund research.
Fitzgerald began his career in business development roles at Old Mutual, working across international markets including Buenos Aires and Kuala Lumpur, where he focused on expanding the company’s presence in emerging markets.
