Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, June 2025 — Coupang, the global e-commerce and technology giant, has appointed Rohan Waghmare as Director of IT – Reliability Engineering, reinforcing its commitment to building a future-ready, intelligent operations infrastructure. Based at Coupang’s technology center in Bengaluru, Rohan will spearhead the transformation of IT operations into a highly automated, proactive, and self-healing environment. A key part of his mandate includes establishing a world-class Command Center to support Coupang’s fast-growing and globally distributed infrastructure.
With over 15 years of rich experience across IT reliability, global command center operations, and cloud support, Rohan joins Coupang following an impactful 12-year career at BMC Software. In his most recent role as Senior Manager – IT, he was instrumental in overseeing the Global Command Center and Private Cloud Support team, driving operational excellence across mission-critical R&D support systems. He also played a pivotal role in enhancing customer satisfaction through the BMC Customer Experience Programme, leading initiatives that significantly improved support KPIs and reduced customer complaints by over 30%.
Rohan’s earlier career at BMC saw him rise through roles of increasing responsibility—from Technical Support Analyst to Manager – IT, showcasing his deep understanding of IT service operations, GDPR compliance, and cross-functional team leadership. His hands-on experience in developing next-generation support infrastructure and training high-performance teams positions him well to drive reliability at scale for Coupang’s platform services.
Prior to BMC, Rohan worked with Pace, managing complex network and lab environments, and began his career at Openview Technologies in IT support. His academic background includes a BEng (Hons) in Telecommunication and Networks from Birmingham City University, along with professional development at IIM Bangalore and Knolskape in leadership and AI strategies.
At Coupang, Rohan is expected to align IT reliability strategy with the company’s broader vision of delivering seamless and consistent digital experiences to customers and internal teams—especially as the business continues its expansion into newer markets and service lines.
