New Delhi, India, July 2026 — Bloomsbury Publishing India has appointed Vikas Sharma as Vice President – Consumer Sales, strengthening its leadership team as the company continues to expand its presence across India’s fast-growing publishing market.
In his new role, Sharma will lead Bloomsbury Publishing India’s consumer sales strategy, overseeing the company’s complete trade portfolio across fiction, non-fiction, children’s publishing, young adult (YA), business, and academic titles. He will be responsible for driving growth across retail, online, and distribution channels while leading national sales teams to accelerate market expansion and strengthen Bloomsbury’s position in India.
Sharma joins Bloomsbury from HarperCollins Publishers India, where he most recently served as Associate Director – Sales. During his tenure, he led national sales initiatives across multiple publishing categories, driving revenue growth, strengthening distribution networks, optimizing channel performance, and expanding relationships with leading retail and e-commerce partners.
Previously, he spent nearly seven years as National Sales Manager at HarperCollins Publishers India, where he managed the company’s sales, distribution, retail, online commerce, export markets, inventory optimization, transit retail, author events, and key customer partnerships. He successfully led high-performing sales teams while delivering sustained growth across both adult and children’s publishing portfolios.
Earlier in his career, Sharma spent nine years with Penguin Random House India as Regional Sales Manager, managing retail, online, and transit sales across North India. During this period, he played an instrumental role in expanding regional sales, strengthening relationships with leading booksellers and e-commerce platforms including Amazon and Flipkart, and managing major literary events such as the World Book Fair, New Delhi.
He began his publishing career with Parragon Publishing India as Retail Sales Executive, following an earlier customer service role at Minds India.
With more than 18 years of experience in India’s publishing industry, Sharma has built deep expertise in Consumer Sales, Trade Distribution, Channel Strategy, Retail Management, E-commerce, Sales Leadership, Inventory Planning, Key Account Management, Business Development, Team Leadership, Author Event Management, Trade Marketing, Sales Operations, Customer Relationship Management, and Revenue Growth.
His appointment reflects Bloomsbury Publishing India’s continued investment in strengthening its commercial capabilities and expanding the reach of its diverse publishing portfolio across one of the world’s fastest-growing book markets.
