Iowa City, Iowa, United States, June 2024 – Ruth Appleton has joined the University of Iowa as the new Assistant Director of Human Resources. Ruth will be supporting the Division of Student Life, bringing her extensive experience in human resources to enhance the student experience and support the university’s mission.
Ruth comes to the University of Iowa after a significant tenure at Iowa State University, where she worked for 17 years. Most recently, she served as a Human Resources Business Partner for over two years. In this role, she managed HR operations, provided strategic HR support, and leveraged her expertise in personnel management and employee relations to drive organizational effectiveness.
Prior to her role as a Human Resources Business Partner, Ruth was a Human Resources Consultant at Iowa State University for over 14 years. During this time, she supported various HR functions, including employee development, performance management, and policy implementation. Her work in consulting roles allowed her to develop deep insights into the needs of academic institutions and their staff, enabling her to provide tailored HR solutions that aligned with organizational goals.
