Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, May 2026 – Sagar Mahajan has been promoted to General Manager – Business Development at Sun Pharma, marking a significant milestone in his long-standing journey with the organization. In this role, he will lead regional portfolio strategy across CIS, Central & Eastern Europe, and Africa, while driving in-licensing initiatives, selective M&A, and portfolio lifecycle decisions to strengthen the company’s global growth pipeline.
Sagar Mahajan has built an extensive career spanning over 16 years with Sun Pharma, progressing through multiple leadership roles in business development and international marketing. Most recently, he served as Regional Lead (CIS, EEU & Africa), where he owned regional growth strategies, led end-to-end product planning, and drove strategic partnerships across global markets.
Prior to that, he held the role of Deputy General Manager – Business Development (Emerging Markets), focusing on inorganic growth initiatives across Russia, CIS, and Eastern Europe. His responsibilities included evaluating external pipelines, structuring licensing deals, and enabling execution readiness across multiple geographies.
Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Manager – Business Development (Emerging Markets) and Senior Manager – Business Development (Eastern Europe, Russia & CIS), where he contributed to strategic licensing, M&A initiatives, and portfolio expansion across key international markets.
He began his journey with Sun Pharma as a Management Trainee in International Marketing, steadily advancing through roles including Executive Business Development and Assistant Manager, where he supported market entry strategies across Latin America and other emerging markets.
Sagar Mahajan holds a Pharma MBA from SIES College of Management Studies and has completed an Executive Program in Business Analytics and AI from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
