Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India, April 2025 – Saroj Kumar Pani has taken on an expanded role as Dean, Academics at Indian Institute of Management Raipur, continuing his contributions to the institute where he has served as Professor since late 2023. In this new capacity, he will oversee the academic vision and direction of the institution, while maintaining his broader responsibilities within the academic community.
Prior to this expanded role, Professor Saroj Kumar Pani held several leadership roles at IIM Raipur, including Chairperson of the Doctoral Program and Chairperson of the Ethics Board, where he contributed significantly to academic quality, research governance, and program development. His initiatives helped streamline academic processes and elevate the intellectual engagement of the institute.
Before joining IIM Raipur, he was Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam for over three years. There, he served in multiple leadership capacities including Chairperson of PGPEx and Chairperson of Career Development Services and Alumni Relations, playing a key role in institutional development and external engagement.
Previously, Professor Pani was part of the founding faculty at IIM Nagpur, where he was Associate Professor, Chairperson of Strategy & Entrepreneurship, and Founding Director and Managing Director of InFED, the institute’s incubator. His leadership at InFED helped shape entrepreneurial ecosystems and interdisciplinary research across academic and industry domains.
His earlier academic tenures include significant roles at XLRI Jamshedpur and IIM Indore, where he taught, mentored doctoral scholars, and contributed to strategy curriculum development. Professor Pani holds a PhD in Corporate Strategy and Policy from IIM Bangalore, and has served as visiting faculty at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Italy. He continues to serve on boards and advisory panels across academic and innovation institutions, reflecting his broad influence on India’s academic and entrepreneurial landscapes.
