Kingston, Rhode Island, United States – October 2024 – Becky H. has joined the University of Rhode Island as the new Vice President of Human Resources. In this role, she will focus on advancing the university’s HR strategy to support its mission of providing a learner-centered, research-driven environment. Becky will be responsible for driving HR initiatives that promote organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and a strong institutional culture.
Prior to joining the University of Rhode Island, Becky served as the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Cornell University for over eight years. Her tenure at Cornell included leading strategic HR functions across HRIS and Technology, benefits administration, staff and labor relations, workforce planning, and compliance. Becky played a key role in driving data-driven HR decisions, enhancing employee well-being, and supporting competitive compensation frameworks.
Earlier, Becky held the role of Director of Human Resources at eCornell, where she led HR strategy for Cornell’s online learning platform. She was instrumental in building HR functions, driving staffing efficiencies, and implementing new HR interventions to align with business needs. Becky also took on additional responsibilities as Interim Sr. Director of Program Delivery, managing the effective delivery of eCornell’s programs globally.
Becky’s previous roles at Cornell include Assistant Director of Human Resources and HR Business Partner, where she partnered with various divisions to develop HR strategies focused on diversity, equity, recruitment, and organizational effectiveness. Her leadership was evident in creating inclusive work environments and driving staff development.
Becky also has extensive international experience from her time with the International Mission Board (IMB), where she served as Personnel Specialist and Outreach Coordinator, managing global HR operations and coordinating international outreach efforts. Additionally, she worked as a Life Skills Educator with AmeriCorps, providing educational support to at-risk youth.
