Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 2026 – Mount Meru Group has appointed Narayan Bhatra as Group CEO Energy, based out of Dubai, UAE.
In his new role, Narayan Bhatra will spearhead the group’s global energy business, overseeing midstream and downstream operations across multiple international markets while driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and sustainable energy initiatives.
Prior to joining Mount Meru Group, Narayan Bhatra served as Chief Executive Officer (Retail) at Essar Energy Transition in the United Kingdom, where he led the company’s retail transformation agenda focused on mobility, convenience, partnerships, and growth initiatives within the mature UK energy market.
Earlier, he built a distinguished leadership journey at Nayara Energy across multiple strategic roles. As Chief Retail Officer, he led one of India’s fastest-growing private fuel retail networks with over 6,600 outlets, driving large-scale expansion, operational transformation, digitization, and customer-centric value propositions. He also served as Senior Vice President & Head Institutional Business, where he strengthened high-value business segments, accelerated biofuel initiatives, and expanded institutional business operations. Prior to these assignments, he held the role of Vice President – Head Retail (Operations), where he played a significant role in scaling retail operations, improving market effectiveness, and enhancing channel management practices.
Before Nayara Energy, Narayan held strategic leadership assignments with Essar Oil Limited and Essar Petroleum (East Africa) Limited, focusing on downstream petroleum expansion, East African market development, strategic investments, and business transformation initiatives across Kenya and neighboring regions.
He also worked with JSW Energy as General Manager (Strategic Initiatives), where he led strategic fuel procurement and corporate optimization initiatives, and spent more than six years with Reliance Industries Limited in senior petroleum business and trading leadership roles covering strategic marketing, supply trading, aviation fuel business, market expansion, and business development across India and East Africa. Earlier in his career, he held leadership responsibilities at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) and Ispat Industries Limited, contributing to corporate strategy, refinery projects, export operations, and hydrocarbon sector initiatives.
On the academic front, Narayan Bhatra holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Financial Management Services from the University of Mumbai and a Master’s in Financial Management and General Management from SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS).
