Mumbai, India, September 2024 – Akasa Air has announced the appointment of Sejal Haribhakti Mody as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective September 9, 2024. Sejal will oversee the airline’s human resources strategy as it aims to become one of the world’s top 30 airlines by the end of the decade.
In her new role, Sejal will be responsible for leading organizational transformation, enhancing talent management, and strengthening employee culture while ensuring a strong focus on leadership development and enterprise performance.
Sejal brings with her over 20 years of experience in human resources, having held key leadership roles in various industries, including FMCG, media, and consulting. Before joining Akasa Air, Sejal was HR Head for Supply Chain, Legal, and ESG/Sustainability for South Asia at Hindustan Unilever Ltd., where she spearheaded talent strategy, workforce planning, and culture-building initiatives.

Sejal’s previous experience includes leadership roles at Disney Star, McKinsey & Co., and Accenture. She holds an MBA in Finance and Change Management from the Indian School of Business and a BBA Honors in Management Information Systems from the Texas McCombs School of Business.
Launched in August 2022, Akasa Air has rapidly become a preferred carrier in India, serving over 11 million passengers. Known for its on-time performance and operational efficiency, the airline currently connects 22 domestic and five international cities, including Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait City.
