Greater Boston, Massachusetts, United States, June 2026 — Thermo Fisher Scientific has appointed Alejandra Bailon as Vice President, Human Resources for its Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD), marking another significant milestone in her distinguished global human resources leadership career.
In announcing the transition, Alejandra reflected on her experience supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Chemical Analysis Division (CAD), expressing gratitude to colleagues and leadership for their trust and support while emphasizing her commitment to continued growth within the organization.
In her new role, Alejandra will lead the human resources strategy for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division, partnering with business leaders to drive talent development, organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, succession planning, workforce transformation, employee engagement, and business growth initiatives across one of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s most strategically important divisions.
Alejandra joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2023 as Vice President Human Resources, where she has been responsible for partnering with senior leaders to strengthen organizational capability, support business transformation, and advance talent strategies across the organization.
Prior to joining Thermo Fisher Scientific, she spent more than eight years with Medtronic, serving in several senior global human resources leadership roles. Most recently, she held the position of Global Vice President Human Resources, Surgical Innovations, where she supported global business operations and strategic workforce initiatives. Earlier, she served as Vice President Human Resources – Latin America, leading people strategy across the region and partnering with executive leadership to align talent initiatives with business objectives.
Before Medtronic, Alejandra built an extensive leadership career at Covidien, where she spent nearly a decade in progressively senior human resources positions. Her responsibilities included serving as Director of HR for Latin America Emerging Markets and Human Resources Director for global business units, where she led organization design, change management, succession planning, talent management, leadership development, employee engagement, and organizational transformation initiatives.
Earlier in her career, she held human resources leadership positions with Honeywell, A.O. Smith, Carters, Kimberly-Clark, and Baxter. Across these organizations, she gained deep expertise in labor relations, organizational development, leadership effectiveness, workforce planning, employee relations, compensation strategy, talent acquisition, and large-scale organizational transformation.
Her professional journey began in consulting and operational roles, including assignments with Management Dynamics, Proctor Silex, Acoisa de Juárez, and Essex International/United Technologies, providing her with broad experience across manufacturing, healthcare, industrial, and professional services sectors.
With nearly four decades of experience spanning global human resources leadership, organizational transformation, talent strategy, leadership development, and business partnership, Alejandra brings exceptional expertise to her expanded leadership responsibilities within Thermo Fisher Scientific.
