Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2026 — Amit Palta has been appointed as Deputy Managing Director – Designate at Kotak Life, bringing with him nearly three decades of leadership experience across life insurance, banking, distribution, product management, sales, marketing, and financial services.
A seasoned business leader with a proven track record of driving growth, building distribution networks, developing innovative products, and leading large-scale business transformations, Amit’s appointment marks an important addition to Kotak Life’s leadership team as the company continues its growth trajectory in India’s life insurance sector.
Prior to joining Kotak Life, Amit Palta served as Chief Products and Distribution Officer at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited, where he was responsible for leading product strategy, distribution growth, customer acquisition, and business expansion initiatives. During his tenure, he played a key role in strengthening the company’s market position through innovative product offerings and robust distribution capabilities. He also served as Nominee Director at ICICI Prudential Pension Funds Management Company Limited, contributing to governance and strategic oversight in the pension and retirement solutions space.
Before returning to ICICI Prudential Life Insurance in a senior leadership capacity, Amit spent more than a decade with ICICI Bank, where he held several strategic leadership roles. As Senior General Manager, he served as Retail Business Head – West and earlier as Retail Business Head – South, leading large retail banking operations across key geographies. Prior to these assignments, he served as General Manager – Liabilities, Product, Strategy and Marketing, where he was responsible for product innovation, customer acquisition strategies, and marketing initiatives that supported business growth.
Earlier in his career, Amit spent more than six years with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited, where he progressed through multiple leadership positions including Head of Sales, Head Bancassurance and Alliances, Business Manager, and Regional West Manager. During this period, he played a pivotal role in building distribution channels, strengthening bancassurance partnerships, and driving business growth across multiple regions. His leadership contributed significantly to the expansion of one of India’s leading life insurance companies during its formative growth years.
Prior to joining the ICICI Group, Amit held leadership and sales management roles with Standard Chartered Bank, SBI Cards, Tech Pacific, and DCM Data Systems. Beginning his career in sales and marketing, he steadily built expertise across consumer finance, unsecured lending, channel management, business development, and customer acquisition. Over the years, his diverse experience across banking, insurance, and financial services has established him as one of the industry’s respected business leaders with a strong understanding of products, distribution, and customer-centric growth strategies.
