Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, April 2026 — Bhawanand Thakur has joined ZF India as Head of Commodity Purchasing – Region India, taking on the role at ZF Group as Senior General Manager. His appointment marks an important leadership move for the company as it continues to strengthen its purchasing and supply chain capabilities in India within the broader advanced mobility ecosystem.
Before joining ZF India, Bhawanand Thakur built a long and progressive leadership career at SEG Automotive, where he most recently served as Vice President and Head – Light Electric Mobility Business, India. Prior to that, he held the positions of Associate General Manager Purchasing and Deputy General Manager – Purchasing, contributing across strategy, purchasing, and mobility-focused business leadership. Earlier, he also served as Deputy General Manager at Robert Bosch Starter Motor and Generator India Pvt Ltd, adding further operational and procurement leadership depth to his profile.
Earlier in his journey, he spent more than four years at Bosch India in Bengaluru, where he worked in Project Purchasing and Preventive Quality Management as Senior Manager, and also as Commodity Buyer and Manager. These assignments helped strengthen his expertise in purchasing strategy, commodity management, contract negotiation, and supplier-facing quality processes.
Prior to that, Bhawanand Thakur worked at Robert Bosch, Homburg, Germany, in Material Planning and Procurement, gaining international exposure in procurement and planning. He also had a long earlier stint at Bosch India in Jaipur, where he worked in Purchasing and IPN – Global Purchasing Strategy, building strong experience across production planning, materials requirements, and purchasing strategy in manufacturing-led environments. He began his professional journey in a manufacturing company, where he worked in Production Planning and MR, laying the foundation for his later leadership in procurement and commodity management.
His career reflects deep and sustained experience across purchasing, procurement strategy, commodity management, mobility, production planning, and supplier engagement. With leadership experience spanning India and Germany, and across major global automotive and mobility-focused organizations, Bhawanand Thakur brings a strong and well-rounded procurement leadership profile to his new role at ZF India.
Bhawanand Thakur also completed PGCSL in Senior Leadership from XLRI Jamshedpur, further strengthening his leadership and strategy credentials alongside his extensive industry experience.
