Jhanne Hooker has been appointed as the new Director of Human Resources Project Management at Houston Independent School District (HISD), effective April 2024. Hooker brings over eight years of experience within HISD, having progressed through several pivotal roles that have prepared her for this leadership position.
Prior to her new role, Hooker served as the Program Manager for Human Resources, focusing on Immigrant Employee Support from January 2023. In this position, she was instrumental in overhauling the HR Information Systems (HRIS) and streamlining processes and policies that enhanced the recruitment and onboarding experience at HISD.
From June 2022, Hooker held the position of Senior Manager for Family and Community Engagement, where she applied her project management skills and cultural sensitivity to strengthen community relationships and enhance educational outcomes across the district.
Earlier, she managed HISD’s Equity and Outreach initiatives under the R.O.S.E.S Project from March 2020 to August 2022. In this role, Hooker led district-wide mentoring programs that supported over 965+ low-income female students, proving her dedication to fostering inclusive educational environments.
Her career at HISD also included impactful work as the College and Career Readiness Manager, where she significantly increased college application and scholarship rates through targeted readiness initiatives and robust advisor support systems.
