South Africa, April 2026 — McDonald’s South Africa has announced the appointment of Keegan Alicks as Chief Marketing Officer, effective April 1, 2026. His appointment marks an important leadership move for the business as it continues to strengthen customer engagement, brand relevance, and growth across one of the country’s most recognized quick-service restaurant networks.
Before joining McDonald’s South Africa in this role, Keegan Alicks served as Marketing Executive at SPAR South Africa, where he added further depth to his leadership experience in brand and customer-facing strategy. Prior to that, he built a long and distinguished career at Unilever, where he spent more than two decades across a series of progressively senior marketing roles.
Most recently at Unilever, he served as Marketing Director, following his position as Marketing Manager Deodorants. Earlier, he also held the role of Marketing Manager Hand and Body Category, where he contributed to category growth and brand development in important personal care segments. Before that, he served as Senior Brand Manager – Vaseline, adding strong brand stewardship experience within one of the company’s flagship portfolios.
His earlier journey at Unilever included roles such as Shopper Marketing Manager, Assistant Brand Axe, and Demand Planner. These assignments gave him broad exposure to shopper marketing, brand development, category strategy, planning, and consumer-focused business execution. Taken together, his career reflects a strong and steady progression across commercial marketing, brand building, and category leadership.
With experience spanning major consumer brands and retail-led business environments, Keegan Alicks brings to McDonald’s South Africa a strong combination of marketing leadership, category expertise, and brand-building capability. His appointment comes at a time when customer experience, digitization, and brand engagement continue to play a central role in the growth of the foodservice industry.
