Mumbai, India, July 2026 — Avantor has appointed Purnendu Senapati as Head of Diagnostics (Core & Strategic Partnership Portfolio) – Laboratory Solutions Segment (LSS), India, strengthening its commercial leadership as the company expands its diagnostics business across one of the world’s fastest-growing healthcare markets.
In his new role, Senapati will lead the commercial and technical operations for Avantor’s Diagnostics business in India with end-to-end P&L responsibility. He will drive business transformation through strategic planning, commercial excellence, customer-centric execution, market expansion, operational excellence, and innovation while building high-performing cross-functional teams to accelerate sustainable growth across the laboratory diagnostics portfolio.
Senapati joins Avantor from Erba Mannheim (Transasia Bio-Medicals), where he served as Divisional Business Head. He led a team of more than 120 professionals across sales, service, applications, and business functions, driving commercial excellence, expanding market presence, and increasing adoption of advanced in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) solutions across India.
Earlier, he served as General Manager – Specialty Solutions at Tata Medical & Diagnostics (Tata MD – GW Health), leading enterprise sales and business development across national hospital chains and large diagnostic laboratory networks. His career also includes leadership roles with Abbott Molecular Diagnostics, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics (Danaher), Philips, Johnson & Johnson Vision, and Novartis, where he built extensive expertise across molecular diagnostics, core diagnostics, imaging systems, ophthalmology, enterprise healthcare sales, strategic partnerships, and commercial leadership.
With over 20 years of experience across healthcare, diagnostics, medical devices, and life sciences, Senapati has developed deep expertise in P&L Management, Commercial Strategy, Diagnostics, In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD), Enterprise Sales, Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, Market Expansion, Healthcare Solutions, Commercial Excellence, Team Leadership, Customer Relationship Management, Sales Transformation, Laboratory Solutions, and Operational Excellence.
His appointment reflects Avantor’s continued investment in strengthening its diagnostics leadership and expanding its laboratory solutions capabilities across India’s rapidly evolving healthcare ecosystem.
