Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, United States, June 2026 — Cencora has appointed Samantha Hammock as its next Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), bringing aboard an accomplished human capital executive with extensive experience leading global talent, leadership development, organizational transformation, and people strategy initiatives at some of the world’s most recognized organizations.
Hammock joins Cencora from Verizon, where she has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer since 2021. In this role, she has been responsible for shaping the company’s global people strategy, talent management framework, leadership development agenda, workforce transformation initiatives, and employee experience programs. Prior to becoming CHRO, she served as Senior Vice President, Global Talent, overseeing talent acquisition, succession planning, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness efforts across the enterprise.
Before Verizon, Hammock spent more than 14 years with American Express, where she held a series of increasingly senior leadership positions focused on talent, learning, leadership development, and organizational change. Her tenure included roles such as Global Talent & Learning Leader, Chief Learning Officer, Vice President of Leadership Strategy, Vice President of Global Leadership Development & Onboarding, and Vice President of Learning & Communications. Throughout her time at American Express, she played a pivotal role in building leadership capabilities, strengthening talent pipelines, and driving enterprise-wide learning and development strategies.
Earlier in her career, Hammock served as a Manager at JPMorgan Chase Vastera, where she gained valuable experience in business operations and organizational management. She began her professional journey with Ernst & Young as an auditor, establishing a strong foundation in business processes, governance, and organizational effectiveness that would later support her transition into human capital leadership.
