Boston, Massachusetts, United States, March 2025 – Shirley Kapnis has been appointed as Vice President, Human Resources at Sompo. In her new role, she will oversee HR strategy, talent management, and organizational development, contributing to Sompo’s continued growth and employee engagement initiatives.
Kapnis has been with Sompo for over two years, previously serving as AVP, Human Resources Business Partner. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in aligning HR practices with business goals, enhancing workforce planning, and driving key HR initiatives.
Prior to Sompo, Kapnis had a distinguished 16-year tenure at AIG, where she held multiple HR leadership positions. As a Human Resources Business Partner, she provided strategic HR support across various business units, focusing on employee relations, talent development, and workforce transformation. Before AIG, she worked as a Human Resources Generalist at Ocean Cuisine and began her HR career as a Human Resources Assistant and Payroll Specialist at Holyoke Mutual Insurance Company, where she spent 15 years managing payroll and HR functions.
