Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 2024 – Urooj Tahir has been named Senior Vice President – CHRO UAE Onshore & Banking and MEA Head of Nationalization at Citi, where she will lead the human resources strategy across UAE Onshore and Banking operations while also overseeing nationalization efforts across the Middle East and Africa region. In her new role, Urooj will drive talent acquisition, retention, and development initiatives to align with Citi’s strategic goals and nationalization requirements in the region.
Urooj brings a wealth of experience in talent acquisition and human resources management. Prior to her new role, she served as Vice President, Talent Acquisition – Banking, International, Client and Wealth (UK, Europe & MEA) and Nationalization at Citi, where she led recruitment efforts across multiple geographies and business areas, with a focus on nationalization strategies in the Middle East and Africa region.
Before joining Citi, Urooj was Regional Talent Acquisition and Graduate Program Lead – Nationalization at HSBC. Over her 8-year tenure, she led nationalization recruitment initiatives in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait while managing graduate programs and fostering relationships with universities across the region.
Earlier in her career, Urooj held various HR and talent acquisition roles at Commercial Bank International and Khushhali Bank Ltd, where she was responsible for end-to-end recruitment, developing recruitment strategies, and reducing employee turnover.
