With 36 years of experience across power, construction, and infrastructure, Ajay Kapur will lead Suzlon’s evolution from a pure-play wind energy company to a full-stack renewable energy solutions conglomerate. His mandate aligns with Suzlon’s strategic ambition to integrate wind, solar, energy storage, and emerging technologies into a comprehensive renewable energy platform.

Suzlon Group stated that Mr. Kapur has been instrumental in building companies characterized by strong growth, operational excellence, and financial stability. His leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in driving impactful transformation and ensuring sustainable growth across the Group’s diversified renewable portfolio.

Sharing his perspective on the appointment, Ajay Kapur said:

“I am excited to take on the role of Group CEO at Suzlon to drive its transformation to Suzlon 2.0. A deliberate shift toward building a full-stack renewable energy solutions platform that integrates wind, solar, energy storage, and emerging technologies to support a rapidly evolving energy ecosystem. As renewables move from aspiration to strong economic reality, the opportunity ahead lies in disciplined execution, scaling capabilities, and unlocking value across diversified business models while strengthening reliability and customer trust.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Vinod Tanti, Mr. Girish Tanti, the Board, the Group Executive Council, and the leadership team for entrusting me with this responsibility and creating a strong foundation for Suzlon’s next phase of growth. I am grateful to my gurus, many mentors, colleagues, and industry leaders whose guidance and experiences over the years have shaped my journey and perspectives.

The strengthened leadership architecture reflects Suzlon’s commitment to strategic clarity and operational depth as we accelerate this transformation. My immediate priority is to listen, learn, and work closely with our teams across the organisation to translate ambition into measurable outcomes.

Suzlon’s legacy, integrated capabilities, and global footprint provide a powerful platform to build upon. Suzlon 2.0 is about combining these strengths with sharper competitiveness, innovation, and sustainable value creation, contributing meaningfully to India’s and the world’s clean energy transition.”

Prior to joining Suzlon, Ajay Kapur held multiple leadership roles across large-scale infrastructure and industrial enterprises. Most recently, he served as Managing Director at Ambuja Cements Limited and as CEO and Whole Time Director, contributing to strategic expansion and operational growth.

He also held senior leadership roles within the Adani Group, where he led the cement business comprising Ambuja Cement, ACC Cement, Penna Cement, and Sanghi Industries. During this tenure, the business managed a topline of approximately $5 billion and a capacity of around 100 MT, with an expansion roadmap to 140 MT.

Earlier, Ajay served as CEO – Aluminium & Power at Vedanta Resources Limited, leading a division with a topline of approximately $5 billion, EBITDA of around $900 million, and a workforce of nearly 25,000 employees. He also held commercial and marketing oversight responsibilities across multiple group businesses.

His long-standing leadership journey includes a 26-year tenure at Ambuja Cements Ltd. (A LafargeHolcim Group Company), where he progressed through various roles to become Managing Director & CEO. Earlier in his career, he worked with Citi and also served as an Independent Director at Creative Group of Industries.

Ajay Kapur is an alumnus of The Wharton School’s Advanced Management Programme and holds an MBA in Marketing from K J Somaiya Institute of Management.
