Amsyar Azizi Appointed Head, People & Culture at Bank Rakyat Malaysia

In his new position, Azizi will lead the bank’s people and culture agenda, supporting organizational development, cultural transformation, employee engagement, and workforce initiatives as Bank Rakyat continues to strengthen its position as Malaysia’s largest Islamic cooperative bank.

Prior to joining Bank Rakyat Malaysia, Azizi served as Head, Consumer Protection & Compliance Training at Agrobank Malaysia, where he led initiatives focused on compliance capability development, consumer protection awareness, organizational culture, and workforce learning. During his tenure, he played an important role in strengthening compliance knowledge and fostering a culture of accountability across the organization.

Before Agrobank, he spent nearly five years with Hong Leong Bank Berhad, holding several leadership positions across compliance, training, and financial crime management.

Most recently, he served as Manager, Compliance Advisory & Specialist Support, providing guidance on compliance-related matters and supporting regulatory initiatives across the bank. Prior to that, he held the role of Manager, Compliance Training & Communication, where he led bank-wide compliance culture programs, role-based compliance training, e-learning initiatives, and employee awareness campaigns. Earlier, he served as Manager, Financial Crime Compliance (Assurance & Training), focusing on anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) assurance and training activities.

Earlier in his career, Azizi worked with the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) as Senior Executive, Investor Education, contributing to nationwide investor education initiatives including the InvestSmart Roadshow and InvestSmart Fest, aimed at improving financial literacy and investment awareness across Malaysia.

He also spent four years with HSBC as Executive, Global Banking & Markets, gaining experience within the banking and financial services sector and building a strong foundation in financial operations and customer engagement.

Throughout his career, Azizi has developed expertise spanning organizational culture, compliance training, learning and development, employee engagement, change management, regulatory communication, financial crime compliance, and capability development.
