Prior to her appointment at BANK OF AFRICA, Maruma served as the Director of Global Markets, Corporate & Investment Banking at Absa Bank Tanzania from February 2020 to May 2024, where she demonstrated a keen aptitude for leading complex financial operations and enhancing client relationships. Her role involved a significant focus on digital strategy and cross-functional team leadership, contributing to substantial business growth during her tenure.

Before joining Absa Bank, she held a pivotal role at Barclays Bank Tanzania Ltd. as Director of Global Markets, Corporate & Investment Banking from May 2018 to February 2020. Here, she led critical market and corporate banking initiatives that substantially strengthened the bank’s market presence.

Her early career highlights include impactful leadership roles at Barclays Bank Tanzania Ltd., where she was deeply involved in treasury and market-making strategies that supported the bank’s financial stability and client-focused objectives.
