Montreal, Quebec — François Cloutier has taken on a new challenge as Vice President of Human Resources at CAE. With over 22 years of experience in human resources, Cloutier is poised to lead the HR department with strategic oversight and a focus on talent management, human capital development, and employee engagement.

A Distinguished Career in Human Resources
Cloutier joined CAE in May 2023 as the Global HR Leader for Flight Services, where he successfully managed HR strategies across CAE’s global aviation training business. In his new role, Cloutier will continue to build on his experience to foster a positive culture and align HR initiatives with CAE’s broader goals.

Prior to joining CAE, Cloutier served as Vice President of Human Resources at Fiera Capital from April 2020 to May 2023. At Fiera, he implemented HR strategies that supported the company’s growth and global expansion, focusing on talent acquisition, performance management, and employee engagement.

Before Fiera Capital, Cloutier held a similar role at Ivanhoé Cambridge, serving as Vice President of Human Resources from November 2016 to April 2020. He was instrumental in enhancing HR policies and programs, improving employee relations, and fostering a high-performance culture.

His initial tenure at CAE spanned from April 2011 to November 2016, where he led global HR initiatives for the Commercial Aviation Training division, including mergers and acquisitions, pilot training, and CAE’s flight schools.

Cloutier’s HR journey also includes influential roles at Electronic Arts (EA), Pratt & Whitney Canada, Yellow Pages Group, BCE Emergis, and Vidéotron. In these roles, he excelled in implementing strategic HR programs, improving compensation structures, and leading HRIS transformations.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
