Boulder, Colorado, United States, April 2026 – Workday has announced that Gabe Monroy has taken on the role of Chief Technology Officer, marking a significant leadership move as the company continues to advance its AI-first enterprise platform strategy.
In his new role, Gabe Monroy will lead Workday’s technology vision, platform innovation, and AI-driven transformation, supporting the company’s mission to help organizations adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Prior to becoming Chief Technology Officer at Workday, Gabe Monroy served as SVP/GM Platform, where he focused on evolving the Workday platform to be more open, extensible, and AI-native, while accelerating innovation across the enterprise ecosystem.
Before joining Workday, he held senior leadership roles at Google, where he served as VP/GM Cloud Runtimes and VP of Developer Experience, leading initiatives across cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes, serverless computing, and AI/ML workloads. His work included driving large-scale product innovation and enhancing developer ecosystems globally.
Earlier, he was Chief Product Officer at DigitalOcean, where he led product management, engineering, and design functions for customer-facing platforms, driving growth and innovation.
He also spent over four years at Microsoft, where he held roles including Vice President of Product Management, leading Azure developer services, cloud platforms, and serverless technologies.
In addition, Gabe Monroy has entrepreneurial experience as CTO of Deis, Inc. and OpDemand, contributing to the development of cloud-native platforms and open-source ecosystems, and earlier held technical leadership roles at Intuit Inc.
With deep expertise in cloud computing, developer platforms, AI/ML infrastructure, and enterprise technology, he brings a strong foundation to drive Workday’s next phase of innovation.
