LISBON, PORTUGAL, June 2026 — Worten Portugal has confirmed the appointment of Miguel Tolentino as Chief People Officer, following a successful leadership secondment during the past several months. In his new role, Tolentino will partner with business leaders and teams to strengthen organizational capabilities, develop talent, foster a high-performance culture, and support the company’s growth and transformation agenda.
The appointment marks a meaningful return for Tolentino to a business with which he has been closely associated in the past. Having served as Chief People Officer on secondment from Sonae since December 2025, he now assumes the position on a permanent basis as Worten accelerates its next phase of organizational evolution and business growth.
Reflecting on his appointment, Tolentino shared that it has been a privilege to return to Worten during a period defined by renewed ambition, transformation, and growth. He noted that his focus remains on strengthening leadership, culture, and organizational effectiveness in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives while supporting the continued development of the business and its people.
Tolentino brings nearly three decades of experience spanning human resources, leadership development, organizational transformation, business management, marketing, and executive leadership across the Sonae ecosystem.
Prior to his permanent appointment at Worten Portugal, he served as Head of People & Leadership and Continuous Improvement at Sonae, where he was responsible for advancing leadership capabilities, talent development, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Concurrently, he also served as an Invited Lecturer in Executive Education at Porto Business School, designing and delivering executive learning programs focused on change management, organizational transformation, and leadership effectiveness.
Before joining Sonae, Tolentino spent almost five years as Head of Group People & Culture at Sonae Capital, where he led talent management, organizational development, employee engagement, and cultural transformation initiatives across multiple business units. During this period, he played a key role in supporting business growth through integrated talent strategies and leadership development programs.
Earlier in his career, he served as Managing Director of Berg Outdoor, where he led the outdoor apparel and equipment business, and as Head of Human Resources at Sonae SR, strengthening his expertise across both business operations and people leadership.
His professional journey also includes leadership positions at Sonae, Optimus, Sonaecom, Sonae Matrix, and Modelo Continente, where he held responsibilities across project management, product management, marketing, customer experience, mobile services, and organizational leadership.
Tolentino holds extensive experience in leading transformation programs, building high-performing teams, and aligning people strategies with business objectives, making him well-positioned to support Worten’s continued growth in an increasingly dynamic retail and technology landscape.
As Chief People Officer, he is expected to play a central role in strengthening leadership capability, advancing organizational effectiveness, nurturing talent, and supporting Worten’s strategic priorities as the company continues to expand and evolve.
